Local Meetings
From time to time, members in locations around Australia hold meetings of local members to discuss haemochromatosis, local issues and to meet and share with others with the disorder and their families from their local community.
If you are interested in attending or organising a meeting in your area, Haemochromatosis Australia can help by contacting other members in your area, providing support materials and possibly a guest speaker. These meetings can be formal gatherings in a local community centre or other venue, or just an informal get together at a local coffee shop, park or your home.

Newcastle – December 2011
Twelve people met for coffee and a chat at Elermore Vale, Newcastle on 8th December 2012 . Some people had attended the public lecture by Prof John Olynyk held in May. For others it was the first time they had come along to meet people with an interest in haemochromatosis.
This mix of old friends and new provided a supportive environment to talk about experiences with haemochromatosis.
We also talked about the first Haemochromatosis Awareness Week to be held in August 2012. There were suggestions for possible local activities to be held at this time, so we look forward to seeing some of these ideas develop into concrete initiatives.
We anticipate holding the next Newcastle Haemochromatosis Australia session in April or May 2012.
If you live on the Central Coast and would prefer to attend a session in the Gosford area, please do make contact with us by calling the Info Line on 1300 019 028, or call Karin on 0425 196 667.
